Activity
Bank Holiday 7-mile walk in Thames valley featuring Marlow and Cookham. Walk takes place during Cookham's Art Festival which has exhibitions, music and street food stalls in this charming historic village. We will visit the Stanley Spencer Art Gallery, well worth a visit as packed with very original works by "the local very individual genius". Spencer's work often depicted the ordinary with extraordinary insight, infused with a profound sense of mysticism and personal symbolism. If time allows, we can admire the Cookham Sculpture Exhibition set in the beautiful grounds of the John Lewis Odney Club. Festival visitors will be able to wander beneath specimen trees, along the water's edge or through the herbaceous borders, admiring the creations. The walk continues alongside the Thames and through the meadows and hills overlooking the valley. We then reach the Georgian market town of Marlow via its impressive suspension bridge. Walk will explore the historic centre of the town with plenty of pubs and tea rooms before departure by rail.

Travel
Trains from Paddington to Cookham. Elizabeth Line trains stop at Ealing and other stations on route. Change at Maidenhead. Purchase return ticket to Marlow. If parking at start, Marlow trains stop at Cookham on way back. Free parking at start.
