Activity
We will go back in time during this 10-mile walk focused on the woodland of Burnham Beeches. Starting our walk from Burnham Station we will head towards the Burnham Beeches Golf Course. Then going in the direction of Egypt, we will see what's left of Hardicanut Fort Moat, named after the well-known (at least locally) Viking king Hardikanut who is said to have lived at this moated enclosure in the early 11th century. On our way back to civilisation, and the Elizabeth line, we will pass by the Druid's Oak. A detour will take us to our second golf course at Stoke Park, 27 holes and one of the finest in the South East according to self-styled experts. Stoke Park has been featured in several films including Goldfinger (where Bond played golf with Goldfinger) and Bridget Jones Diary. We continue across to Slough Station.
